Your excellent article opens up a larger discussion, Alex, of the preponderance of Dylan covers. As an avowed fan, even I think Dylan as a singer is an acquired taste, but his artistry as a songwriter is so great as to "cover up" for his voice. I can think of many covers that are stylistically superior to the originals -- without undermining Dylan's huge talent for putting complex lyrics together with memorable melodies.
