Well done, Katie. I think American children need to be taught about the Holocaust, and a road trip to the U. S. Holocaust Museum might help children and adults alike begin to understand what it means to demonize other human beings. It is important to put yourself into another’s shoes and ask, “What if that happened to me or my family?” You made so many important points in your article, not the least of which is to note the importance of empathy. Without it, one has little chance of seeing and feeling that the pain of others is in reality the pain we all should share.
