Great piece, Paul, to which I totally relate. I was #38 in that infamous lottery and followed a somewhat similar path. I became a high school teacher, married in my senior year of college, and still had to join the National Guard to avoid being drafted. I loved teaching but ended up leaving it for a more lucrative marketing career. I got from point A to B in an equally circuitous fashion.
