Great observations, John. It may be generational (since I'm even older than you!) but I too find that classics are classics for a reason -- they are timeless and hard to duplicate. I wish more people would discover and enjoy them. Sadly, I think some of us have been turned off to classics because we were forced to read them in school, which immediately colors your perspective. Thanks for speaking out on behalf of the great books of civilization.
