Good observations, but hand-wringing is useless. There are only two things that will make a difference, in my opinion. One is unbending legal action via judges, attorneys general, the ACLU, etc. The other is massive uprisings by citizens in the manner of the Boomers (like me) who protested the Vietnam war, racism, sexism, etc. Without these two actions -- preferably both -- we may not be able to protect our democracy.
