Good observations and choices of some brands that are deservingly obsolete. But I have to disagree about Procter & Gamble. Their strategy has always been to build individual strong brand names separate and apart from the corporate name and support them with great marketing. Many have become billion dollar brands. If you look at their brand portfolio you’ll see “old” brands that are still thriving today because P&G is very conscious of contemporary consumer behavior. Tide and Crest are good examples of P&G brands that have innovated, kept up with the times and continue to be popular with many age groups.
