Andie, I endorse your premise that women are creating great documentaries. I also think there are a number of women directors who are doing wonderful work. And, of course, feature films about such female heroes as Erin Brockovich, Harriet Tubman and Norma Rae also show the power of women.

The only thing I find disconcerting about the docs you covered is how many of them concern the ugly side of humanity (particularly men). I don't blame women documentarians for that -- they are treating difficult subjects that deserve to be exposed. But it is a sad commentary on our world that there are so many awful stories to uncover that demonstrate the indecency of human beings.
